The Rebels’ road to the 2019 State Championship was an unusual one. The season started 0-2, with opponents outscoring the Rebels 97-12.  But then something changed. All it took was a spark—a 49-14 victory over Evangel—and the Rebels finished the season 11-1, averaging 41.3 points per game, and allowing only 16 per game.   The Playoffs BA entered the playoffs ranked 2nd in the region, behind Tuscaloosa Academy. The Rebels hosted Fort Dale Academy and saw a 49-0 victory. With three rushing touchdowns, a pick-6, fumble recovery and punt returns for touchdowns, the Rebels just couldn’t be stopped. For the second round, BA traveled to the defending state champion, Monroe Academy. The Rebels beat Monroe 38-21 in the regular season, but this game would be on their turf, so all bets were off. After a 4+ hour drive to Albany, GA, the Rebels shut out the Deerfield-Windsor Knights 34-0. While shaking hands with the Knights, the Rebels were told, “It was nice having you here. Don’t come back.” Click here for photos We’re on the road again next week at Autauga Academy in Prattville, AL.

National signing day is a celebration for athletes all over the country, and today at Bessemer Academy three of our highly recruited football players made their decisions known. All three were AISA All Stars. Outside linebacker Jordan B. Jones (pictured left) has chosen Alabama A&M in Huntsville. Offensive lineman Mike Williams (center) gave the nod to Samford University in Homewood. Cornerback Brodie Medders (pictured right) will be attending Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. Head coach Josh Wright said, “I am very proud of these young men. It’s a great honor to our team, our school, and their teammates. Many other seniors have offers on the table and will be deciding in the next few weeks.
