Dear Parents and Teachers of Bessemer Academy:
It is with great sorrow that we have to say good bye to our current PTSO President Jennifer McGuire. Jennifer has done an excellent job as PTSO President and has implemented some great ideas. It is my goal to continue with the ideas and programs that Jennifer has already implemented and also to try to come up with some different fundraising options. We are in dire need of all the parents and teachers to participate. We at Bessemer Academy have a lot of work that needs to be done to our school over the next 12 months and the only way we will get it done is if we all work as a team.
Our mission is to support the students, faculty staff and parents in matters related to the educational experience of students at Bessemer Academy. The PTSO also raises funds to help support enrichment programs and items for the school that are not within the school budget. But we can not do it alone, we need your help. If you have not pledged to be a part of the PTSO yet this year, I encourage you to do so. Our goal is to have 100% parent teacher involvement in the PTSO!
Parent involvement is unlimited; you can help at PTSO functions or fundraisers or if you don’t have time to give, consider our PTSO Parent Support Programs that you can participate in while running your everyday life. For example, by shopping at certain places or buying certain products, you will be contributing to our school. Please take some time and take a look at these programs and see how you can make a difference.
This year we are doing things different for the PTSO meetings. Each class has been assigned a date by their teachers to come to the PTSO meetings. You will only have to attend one meeting this year and the beginning and end of the year meetings; of course you are invited to attend all!
During your assigned PTSO meeting, you, your child, or your teacher will have the floor to discuss issues related with the school and or activities. At the meeting, we will also vote on your child’s teacher wish list, so you need to attend! The assigned PTSO meetings are listed on the PTSO calendar posted on the BA website.
If anyone has any ideas for fundraisers and or functions please do not hesitate to contact me with your ideas. Again, we have a lot of work to complete in the upcoming year and will need the support of all of the parents.
I am looking forward to a new and exciting 2010 at Bessemer Academy!
