AISA AAA 2019 Football State Champions
The Rebels’ road to the 2019 State Championship was an unusual one. The season started 0-2, with opponents outscoring the Rebels 97-12. But then something changed. All it took was a spark—a 49-14 victory over Evangel—and the Rebels finished the season 11-1, averaging 41.3 points per game, and allowing only 16 per game. The Playoffs BA entered the playoffs ranked 2nd in the region, behind Tuscaloosa Academy. The Rebels hosted Fort Dale Academy and saw a 49-0 victory. With three rushing touchdowns, a pick-6, fumble recovery and punt returns for touchdowns, the Rebels just couldn’t be stopped. For the second round, BA traveled to the defending state champion, Monroe Academy. The Rebels beat Monroe 38-21 in the regular season, but this game would be on their turf, so all bets were off. Nia Mya Reese visits Bessemer Academy
Nia Mya Reese is a eight year old author who wrote a children’s book on how to deal with your “annoying” little brother. Her book, “How To Deal With And Care For Your Annoying Little Brother,” is now a best-seller which she claims only took a few days to write. She started writing this book in her first grade class, and she says it didn’t take her very long. Her book teaches patience and kindness to children. She visited Bessemer Academy to read her story to young students on Friday, January 25th. It was featured on Focus 4 Channel 6 on Tuesday, January 29th. Her book teaches children how to be nice and wonderful helpers, one little girl even said this book “helped her to not be mean.” She also taught the children at Bessemer Academy you can never be too young to follow your dreams, and she cannot wait…
