Guidance Counseling
Hi there! My name is Ellen Banks,and I am the counselor at Bessemer Academy. I am from Hueytown and have recently “retired” from Jefferson County Schools where I served in different capacities. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and a Master’s degree from the University of Montevallo. My last assignment was at Clay-Chalkville High school where I served as one of the counselors. After serving in Jefferson County for 24 years, I decided it might be time for me to be a part of a smaller more personal surrounding…..and Bessemer Academy was the solution!!!!
Our students at Bessemer Academy can really shine! My goal for our students is that they be dedicated and meticulous about their education and be well-adjusted, contributing individuals in our society. As the counselor at Bessemer Academy, the position will give me the opportunity to help propel our students to a higher level of excellence. I am a dedicated and hard-working person willing to go the extra mile to help the school, community, and most of all, the persons affiliated with each.
